For a host gift or an attention for a loved one, this gingerbread will delight more than one!
Ingredients
Orange Gingerbread
300g of flour
200g of orange jam
60g of butter
50g of brown sugar
30g of orange zest
1 packet of dry yeast
2 tsp. of gingerbread mix
130 ml of sweet liquid honey
130ml of very hot water
1 pinch of sea salt
Creaming and decorations
2 tbsp. of homemade orange juice
50g of pearl sugar
1/2 orange cut into strips
1 cinnamon stick
Preparation
Mix the flour, sugar, spices, yeast and salt in a bowl.
In a second bowl, mix the honey, melted butter, jam and very hot water.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the second bowl and stir until smooth.
Zest the orange and cut into thin strips then incorporate them into the dough.
Preheat the oven to 160°C. Pour the mixture into a well-buttered cake tin (use a sheet of paper towel). On top add half the pearl sugar.
Put in the oven and cook for 1h to 1h15. Check the cooking with a knife, if the knife comes out dry, the gingerbread is cooked.
Turn out and let the gingerbread rest for a few hours.
Brush the top of the gingerbread with orange juice.
Add the rest of the pearl sugar then cut small pieces of orange.
Wrapping idea: buy Christmas food paper and make individual portions to offer at the departure of your guests. You can also offer gingerbread wrapped in tissue.
