A new outdoor area facing Ontario and William-David streets will welcome new businesses this summer at the Maisonneuve Market!  This is great news for market enthusiasts and lovers of novelties, who'll be able to discover new creations every time they visit.    Find out who jumped on the opportunity for the 2024 summer season!   The Maisonneuve Market newcomers Under the marquee, facing Ontario and William-David streets, a dozen food processors and agricultural businesses will complement the Marché's food offering! In addition to the usual merchants, this new outdoor area will welcome a host of businesses ready to showcase their specialties every Saturday of the summer. On the menu: pastries, dried medicinal herbs, hot sauces, typical Haitian seasonings and much more! Find them on the Ontario Street side of the Market's marquee.    One thing's for sure, this wave of new businesses is sure to delight sweet tooths, because among the newcomers are three talented dessert creators:      - Laura from Gour'Mans: much more than a sweets caterer, Gour'Mans also offers a wide variety of 100% home-made pastries, with a focus on gourmet goodness, quality and craftsmanship.    -Benjamin from Pâtisserie Marcette: Montreal's first pastry shop centered around Financiers, Marcette will introduce you to this traditional French cake made with almond powder, egg, butter, flour and sugar.    -Ariane de Miel et Ganache: Her dream of bringing her products to the market will come true this year! Festiv'été - édition piquante

What better way to celebrate summer and hot weather than with a spicy event? Festiv'été is the all-new event that will set the Jean-Talon Market... What better way to celebrate summer and hot weather than with a spicy event? Festiv'été is the all-new event that will set the Jean-Talon Market ablaze on Saturday, July 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.!    During this free event, Jean-Talon Market will be hosting 15 companies that specialize in spicy sauces and sides, including artisanal hot sauces, BBQ sauces, kimchi, pickliz and various seasonings. The workshop ends with a tasting of fermented koji, followed by koji in hot sauce!11 to 11:30 a.m.Desaucierspresented by Jardin Chez MichelDesauciers Sriracha sauce cooking workshop: simple recipe demonstrations and exclusive tastings!12 to 12:30 p.m.Marché des Saveurs du QuébecCooking workshop: Asian hot sauces that go well with Wontons13 to 13:30 p.m. Sébastien Harrison Cloutier Chile relleno recipe : fried poblano pepper stuffed with cheese, jalapeño salsa and roasted tomato A competition to put the bravest to the test  No pepper-focused event would be complete without a hot-sauce tasting competition!  Join us at 4 p.m. in the Jean-Talon Market's event zone for a lively competition in which several brave competitors facing off for the title of spice champ as they sample the hottest sauces made in Quebec. Hosted by Michel Kunta, the competition will be a must during this spicy day ! SOLD OUT - Take part in the hot-sauce competition  Participants will have to eat seven chicken or vegetarian nuggets soaked in hot-sauces, from least to most hot on the Scoville scale. Next, participants still in the race must eat, as quickly as possible, 3 chicken or vegetarian nuggets soaked in the hottest sauces.  Prizes will be awarded to the three fastest participants.    Will you be game to try?  You could win one of the following prizes!  1st place : $300 in gift certificates from Les Marchés publics de Montréal, several hot sauces and a $25 gift bag from Les Marchés publics de Montréal.  2nd place : $100 in gift certificates from Les Marchés publics de Montréal, several hot sauces and a $25 gift bag from Les Marchés publics de Montréal.  3rd place :  $50 in gift certificates from Les Marchés publics de Montréal, several hot sauces and a $25 gift bag from Les Marchés publics de Montréal.  Partnerships  The « Festiv'été édition piquante » event is made possible by the support of the Ville de Montréal and is presented as part of the pedestrianization of Jean-Talon Market, a collaborative project of the borough of Rosemont – La Petite-Patrie, SDC Petite Italie - Marché Jean-Talon and the Société des Marchés publics de Montréal.
