The third grand slam tournament of the year has started in the tennis season, and everyone is excited about what is the most traditional event of all time. Wimbledon has been all over the news because of its great tradition.

It is always of great importance to have a great career and to be a part of the All England Club it is remembered for ever. That is what Heather Watson is going through right now, as she is ready to start her career in search of better results

While this is not her first rodeo, she has extensive experience on grass court. With that said, she is also a part of an unusual history in the tournament, which is remembered every time she steps onto the beautiful British grass.

Back in 2014, Heather Watson banned her parents from entering her box. Something that to this day is still talked about and the reasoning behind it will surprise every tennis fan and even the not conventional one.

The reason behind the banning

Heather Watson made this surprising decision a decade ago and it has to do everything with superstition. She feared that her performance could be jinxed or cursed and in an interview from 2014 she revealed that this is why she does this interesting practice.

"My parents like me to get on with it," she said to the BBC at the time. "I used to travel with my mom everywhere when I was starting out, but as I've gotten older, I think it's easier for me to just focus on myself and my coach and give all my focus to the games."

Despite this situation, Watson has said that her parents are always supporting her and that they are a key part of her life, as they are present in other ways with her. "They follow me and support me 100 percent, my dad has been watching all my matches on TV and my mom was playing tennis during my first match," Watson added.
