Peters signed a $125,000 contract with bonus in 2022 after being the 12th-round draft pick from the Indiana Institute of Technology and had 14 relief appearances with the Arizona Complex League Cubs.
Peters is one of three players who were caught using substances in the minor league program and it seems that the problem has been getting worse as about 15 players have been disciplined just in the minors while J.C. Mejia, the right-handed pitcher from the Milwaukee Brewers was also recently suspended for 162 games in the major league program.
After the news broke, reactions on X started drawing paralles between the usage of the substance and the Olympics, as a user claimed "Oral Tbol. It's what the east Germans used in the 70's to dominate in track and Field"
