Fans keep smiling despite the rain at Wythenshawe Park ahead of Noel Gallagher performing

What a day and night at Wythenshawe Park - as 25,000 music fans descended on the historic parkland to watch homecoming hero Noel Gallagher.

Dedicated fans continued to smile despite the crazy weather conditions on the day. For most of Saturday fans basked in bright sunshine, but were later left dashing under the trees when it descended into rain showers.

An almighty thunder and lightning storm even drew a halt to music on stage temporarily on Saturday evening, before music resumed.

But by the time Noel came to the stage after 9pm it was clear starry skies for the huge singalongs for the former Oasis star.

Earlier, Noel's specially selected guests entertained the audience, starting just after 3pm with Picture Parlour, followed by Billy Nomates. Future Islands were to follow, before Scottish rockers Primal Scream took to the stage for a barnstorming set of their classics including Loaded and Jailbird.

Noel and his High Flying Birds brought a magical end to the night with a mix of his solo classics and Oasis anthems including Live Forever, Little By Little and Don't Look Back in Anger. You can read our full review of the show here.
