Fans of The 1975 couldn't believe their luck yesterday as frontman Matty Healy made a appearance in Manchester's Northern Quarter. The lead singer of the Manchester-formed group, was spotted filming with Apple Music host and DJ Zane Lowe, and even stopped for pictures with fans outside of Piccadilly Records.

While it is not confirmed what the interview with Zane Lowe was for, Healy appeared on The Zane Lowe Show back in August, just as the band released the single 'Happiness' ahead of the launch of their fifth studio album and arena tour next year. Earlier in the morning, the frontman posted to Instagram saying, "Back in Manchester", and could be seen walking down Oxford Road, past the universities.

The Manchester band formed at Wilmslow High School, where they played together as teenagers before signing with Dirty Hit and Polydor Records. Consisting of lead vocalist Matthew "Matty" Healy, lead guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald, and drummer George Daniel, the band released their chart-topping self-titled album in 2013, which included hits 'Chocolate' and 'Robbers'.

On hearing the news that the singer was in Manchester, many rushed around the city to try and track him down for a photo. One fan joked: "Only matty healy could have me running round Manchester in the pouring rain to meet him", while another who braved the elements managed to get Healy in on her BeReal clip: "matty healy in my bereal what a world we live in".

After finishing up, Healy posted to his Instagram stories, thanking those who came out for being so friendly. "Hey guys thanks for being so nice to me in Manchester today and coming over and saying hello - love my fans, love being an icon.

"Just hanging out, ready to go back to London - love you guys."
