Manuel Ugarte has revealed that he would "love" to stay at Paris Saint-Germain next season despite Manchester United registering an interest in the midfielder.

Ugarte, who was linked with a move to the Premier League last summer, decided to join PSG from Sporting CP for a fee in the region of £53million last July. He signed a five-year contract until June 2028 and made his debut in a 0-0 draw against Lorient on the opening weekend of the season.

The Uruguayan ended the season having made 37 appearances in all competitions, helping PSG reach the Champions League semi-finals and winning the Ligue 1 title. However, Sky Sports reported on Tuesday that United have an interest in trying to sign Ugarte in the summer transfer window.

AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli have also been linked with a move for the midfielder. That is despite Ugarte moving to Parc des Princes less than 12 months ago.

United could see the likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Donny van de Beek and Hannibal leave their midfield ranks this summer, with Sofyan Amrabat also set to return to Fiorentina following his loan spell last campaign. The Old Trafford outfit want to add another midfielder to their squad after a disappointing campaign under Erik ten Hag and Ugarte is among the names mentioned. But it appears that the 23-year-old is hoping to stay at PSG instead.

Speaking on his future in May, Ugarte said: "Next season still at PSG? I hope so, I’d love to stay here. We will see what’s gonna happen."

According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG have no intention to accept loan proposals for Ugarte. He was an integral part of the side that won the Ligue 1 title, having played almost 2000 minutes of league action.
