Manchester United have lodged a new bid for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
The Red Devils, who failed with their opening £38million plus £5m in add-ons offer for the 21-year-old last month, are hoping to add another centre-back to their ranks this summer. Branthwaite is right at the top of their shopping list after impressing for the Toffees last season.
And according to the Daily Mail, United have made a second proposal in the region of £45m plus £5m in add-ons for Branthwaite. Everton are likely to reject that offer, as they value him at close to £75m. However, the latest bid could unsettle the England international, who is understood to be interested in the prospect of moving to Old Trafford if both clubs can agree on a deal. He has three years left on his contract at Goodison Park.

Having failed to make the final 26-man England squad for Euro 2024, Branthwaite is able to negotiate his future without European football getting in the way. He made 35 appearances for Everton last season after returning from a successful loan spell at PSV, scoring three times in the process.
United are looking to rebuild this summer after it was confirmed that Ten Hag was staying on as manager under the leadership of Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The Red Devils endured an underwhelming 2023/24 season that saw them finish eighth in the Premier League, though they did end the campaign by winning the FA Cup.
After signing a new contract in Manchester last week, Ten Hag said: "I am very pleased to have reached agreement with the club to continue working together. Looking back at the past two years, we can reflect with pride on two trophies and many examples of progression from where we were when I joined.
"However, we must also be clear that there is still lots of hard work ahead to reach the levels expected of Manchester United, which means challenging for English and European titles.
"In my discussions with the club, we have found complete unity in our vision for reaching those goals, and we are all strongly committed to making that journey together."
