Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has been named in Denmark's squad for the upcoming international break.

Hojlund was officially signed from Atalanta in a deal worth up to £72million on August 5, but he's yet to make his debut for the club after signing with a stress fracture of the back, which he's now close to recovering from.

The forward returned to full training at Carrington last week and he's been considered fit enough to make Denmark's squad for Euro 2024 qualifying fixtures against San Marino and Finland during the September international break.

Although Hojlund wasn't ready to play against Nottingham Forest, he's in contention to make his debut against Arsenal on Sunday.

"Not for tomorrow. (He's) near," Ten Hag said about Hojlund ahead of playing Forest. "Today, for the first time, he came into team training so next week we expect him to do a full week of team training so he is near to the squad."

Hojlund, who has scored six goals in the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign so far, has quickly become a key player for Denmark and provided he's fit, he's set to start their upcoming games against San Marino and Finland.

Hojlund has been called up by Denmark

Hojlund became United's principal striker target this summer after the club were discouraged from bidding for Harry Kane. Sources believe Hojlund is a 'rough diamond' who could be developed into one of European football's best goalscorers.
