Manchester United stance on Hannibal Mejbri's future

Hannibal Mejbri is out of contract at Man United in the summer but the club has the option of an additional year.

Manchester United plan to hold discussions with Hannibal Mejbri about a new long-term contract.

Mejbri, 20, is out of contract in June but United are expected to trigger their one-year option to tie him to the club until 2025.

It is understood United do not regard Mejbri's future as an urgent issue due to the maximum expiry date of his deal but the club plan to progress with discussions over a renewal in the near future.

Mejbri joined United for €10million from Monaco as a 16-year-old in 2019 and he completed his first 90 minutes in the win over Burnley on Saturday.

The Tunisia international has appeared five times for the first team, having spent last season on loan with Birmingham City in the Championship.

Mejbri has effectively leapfrogged Donny van de Beek to become United's alternative playmaker to Bruno Fernandes, having excelled during pre-season prior to his opportunities in recent weeks.
