Lancashire’s Jordan Clark has hailed James Faulkner ‘world class’ and says he is learning a lot from the Australian all-rounder.

Clark has enjoyed an encouraging 2015 in all forms of the game, and played a significant role in getting Lightning on the board in the Royal London one-day Cup earlier this week with a cheap wicket and 29 crucial runs against Middlesex at Blackpool on Wednesday.

Lancashire chased down 162 for the loss of eight wickets, with Faulkner also starring.

The Aussie claimed 2-27 from 10 overs of left-arm seam before hitting 35 to lead a recovery from 93-6, sharing 47 for the seventh wicket with fellow all-rounder Clark.

Jordan Clark against Middlesex

Lancashire are looking for their second win on Sunday when Warwickshire visit Emirates Old Trafford.

“It’s good playing with Jim. It’s good to pick the brains of someone with that experience who has played at the top level and see what he’s thinking about,” said Clark. “The tempo of how you bat and the tempo of how you bowl.

“It’s brilliant to have him in the changing rooms.

“He’s delivered with the ball pretty much every game, and he’s been world-class.

“On Wednesday with the bat, he knew he had a job to do, and he stuck by it the whole way. He was very unlucky with his dismissal. It wasn’t down to him, it was down to the wicket really.”

Sunday’s clash against the Bears is the first of two home matches in three days for Lightning, with competition favourites Nottinghamshire visiting Liverpool on Tuesday.

It is a crucial few days in terms of quarter-final hopes, with Clark confident the Middlesex win can kick-start a good run of form.

“I’ve played at Lancs for long enough to know that when we do get a win under our belt, we can click as a team,” he said.

“When we do get on a roll, it can be hard to stop us because we do gel really well.

“Warwickshire’s massive. We’ve had a few days rest with a bit of training. The lads have had time to recover and work on their skills and, hopefully, we will come back as strong as ever for the game.”

Warwickshire are in desperate need of a win having lost two and had one rained off out of their first three matches.
