The glow of Christmas - the warmth of festive memories, the twinkle of leftover lights, and the lingering joy of shared moments - is a time when families can reflect on the lasting magic created during the holiday season.

With plenty of fun to be had, and joy to be spread, the holiday season is the perfect time of year to treat your little ones to an out-of-this-world experience, igniting core memories, and sparking their imagination.

As the festive season winds down and we transition from Christmas to the anticipation of the New Year, it's the perfect moment to secure your share of post-Christmas cheer and adventure. Why not make Churnet Valley Railway’s Polar Express Train Ride experience your choice for this delightful transition?

The hour-long round trip will take visitors all the way to the 'North Pole' to visit Father Christmas, with lots of festive fun in between. Passengers are invited to join in with the all-singing, all-dancing cast of characters from the Polar Express film, with the loveable character Hobo showcasing the meaning of Christmas, and what it means to truly 'believe' in something - all whilst the gorgeous Staffordshire countryside slips past your window.

Hear the story of the Polar Express first-hand, and join in singing songs with the cheerful crew. This includes singing chefs, who will be serving warming hot chocolate and a tasty festive cookie on board. This event is very popular, and spaces are expected to sell quickly so book now to guarantee a place.

The journey begins

The journey – and the magic – begins at Froghall station on the Churnet Valley Railway in Staffordshire, and the trip will take you beyond the breath-taking 'Northern Lights' as you journey to the 'frozen north'. The spectacular views outside are even more appreciated from the warmth of your cosy seat in the perfectly restored carriages of the steam locomotive.

Visitors are encouraged to come along in their PJs for the full, authentic experience – but remember your dressing gowns too, it's cold in the 'North Pole'.
