As the saying goes, it's not what you know but who you know - and this couldn't be more accurate for Ayda Williams.

The X Factor judge called on hubby Robbie Williams as she competed in Celebrity Apprentice for Comic Relief.

The two-part edition of the popular BBC programme sees 10 celebrities, who are split into a boys and girls team, tasked with staging a cabaret complete with musical guests, entertainers and canapes all under the watchful eye of Lord Alan Sugar.

Ayda - who is joined in her team by Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, EastEnders actress Tameka Empson, interior designer Kelly Hoppen and Boris Johnson's sister, Rachel Johnson - used her number one contact to try and make sure she was triumphant.

Will Robbie agree to help out his wife?

The American actress called her husband and asked if he would perform at their event - even suggesting that he could throw his underwear into the crowd.

Former Take That star Robbie clearly wasn't sure on the request asking if their marriage depended on it to which Ayda replied "Yes!".

Ayda and Amanda also had to perform a duet of Bare Necessities in order to pocket £25,000 from Simon Cowell.

The aim of the game was is to raise as much money as possible and whichever team raises the most will be crowned winners whilst the losing team will hear the dreaded words: "You're fired".

It's boys vs girls as the celebs try and raise as much money as possible for Comic Relief

The boys' team - made up of TV presenters Rylan Clark-Neal and Richard Arnold, comedians Omid Djalili and Russell Kane, and former England football manager Sam Allardyce - were seen trying to bag Turn Back Time singer Cher for their sci-fi themed carbaret.

Also in the episode, the famous contestants also had to talk their fellow celebrities into donating money for the cause.

Carol Vorderman, Take That, Olly Murs and Duncan Bannatyne among those splashing the cash for chairty.

In the next episode of the charity special, the candidates will face Lord Sugar in the boardroom when the winning team will be announced.

Celebrity Apprentice for Comic Relief - The Boardroom airs on BBC One at 9pm on Friday, March 8.
