Netflix fans praise 'bingeable' new series that has viewers in 'serious chokehold'

Netflix subscribers are obsessed with a brand new series which has them 'in a chokehold.' Fool Me Once, starring Michelle Keegan, debuted on the streamer only yesterday (January 1).

Already, viewers have flocked to social media to praise the show, with many watching all eight episodes in just one sitting. The new thriller is from Harlan Coben, the writer behind popular Netflix mini-series Stay Close.

Fool Me Once, which was predominantly filmed right here in Manchester, stars Michelle as Maya Stern, a mum who is coming to terms with the murder of her husband Joe Burkett, played by Richard Armitage.

But just two weeks after his death, she makes a horrifying discovery on her two-year-old daughter's nanny cam. It begins Maya's desperate search for answers, and coming to terms with deep secrets and deceit in her own past.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, viewers shared their thoughts on the drama - with many admitting it had them 'in a chokehold.' @kimrice96x said: "Fool me once on @netflix!!! My god I’m in mourning after binging it. Highly recommend!!!" as @GOHARDorGOH0ME tweeted: "Fool Me Once on Netflix had me in a serious chokehold. Binged the entire series last night."

@welcome_2_asiaa agreed: "Fool me once on Netflix got me in a chokehold . I started today and made my sister watch it with and I’m already on episode 4 and I’ve been like [shocked face emoji] the whole time" as @Englander1512 wrote: "Fool Me Once binge watched. Watch it if you get a chance. Superb".

While some viewers were singing its praises, others didn't think quite so highly of the show. At present, Fool Me Once has an audience score of just 45% on review site Rotten Tomatoes. Its critics score is still pending.
