Coronation Street star Calum Lill has been flooded with good luck wishes as he revealed he's taking on a big challenge for a good cause. The actor, who plays Joel Deering in the ITV soap, took to social media to reveal he'll be taking part in the Royal British Legion's Survival Challenge 2024. A

According to the RBL, the challenge isn't for the faint-hearted. Set in a secluded woodland location, those taking part will need to learn key survival skills from fire lighting, and water purification to foraging. They'll work as a team to build a camp from scratch and attempt to survive five days in the wilderness.

At the end of the week, the RBL says there will be a medal ceremony for the survivors alongside a short service with a moment to reflect on why those who signed up took on this incredible challenge for the Royal British Legion.

Speaking in a video posted to his Instagram page, Calum revealed his involvement and said: "So I'm going to live in a forest for five days and try and survive. Why? I'll tell you.

"The Royal British Legion, who raise money to help veterans, have put on a challenge where you go and live in a forest for five days and survive - build shelters, find food, cook food and get your own water - to raise money for them."

He continued: "So, I'm going to do it at the end of September, while it's getting really cold... It's going to be very cold if this [weather] is anything to go by. I'm going to be living outside, eating worms and slugs! If you could help me by donating and/or sharing it to your story, that'd be amazing. Thank you so much!"

Calum's followers were quick to share their support. @soapsfan_x said: "You've got this." @creative_creations_ishare wrote: "Well Done Calum." @vee_jay84 replied: "Excellent Calum! You’ll smash it!" @sharonrose21 posted: "It's an amazing thing to do. Good luck." @beingjosie1961 added: "Good luck Calum I’m sure you’ll do great."

On his fundraising page, which has a target of £800, Calum shared: "Hi and Thank You for visiting my page! I've signed up to take part in the Royal British Legion Survival Challenge 2024. By taking part in this challenge I'll be raising funds to support the Royal British Legion. The Royal British Legion was founded to help those in need following a national crisis.

"Right now they are helping those who are isolated from family, facing homelessness, struggling to feed their children and are in financial crisis. They are working tirelessly to ensure that those who have served are being looked after no matter what challenges they, and the country faces. Your donation will mean they can continue to provide the life-changing support that our Armed Forces community needs and deserves. Thank You."
