The most and least affordable areas to buy a house in Greater Manchester have now been revealed. The latest average house prices have been released by the HM Land Registry, with our exclusive analysis showing which are the cheapest and most expensive postcodes across the region.

Bardsley in Oldham is the cheapest place to buy a home in Greater Manchester, with homes in the OL8 postcode area selling for an average price of £151,220 over the last 12 months.

Little Hulton in Salford is the next most affordable postcode in our region to buy a home. Houses sold for £156,399 each on average in the M38 postcode area. That’s followed by OL1, Chadderton in Oldham, where an average home sold for £161,270 in the last year.

Altrincham has the highest average house price of any postcode area in Greater Manchester. Houses sold for an average of £603,977 in the WA15 postcode area.

The WA14 area, also covering Altrincham, was the next most expensive place to buy a home in our region, where homes sold for an average of £532,762 last year. That’s followed by SK7, Bramhall in Stockport, where an average home sold for £430,385.
