Thugs who chased each other after a crash in Oldham were brandishing machetes and bats it has now been revealed. It happened on Yorkshire Street in the town centre yesterday evening (Sunday).
Two cars were involved in a smash on the busy high street. The occupants of both vehicles then got out and proceeded to chase each other on foot brandishing then unspecified weapons, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
The force has now confirmed that witnesses identified the weapons they were carrying as being machetes and bats. They also confirmed no arrests have yet been made in connection with the incident.

As the chaos unfolded, GMP received a number of calls from horrified members of the public. Armed officers were among those who responded with a cordon being put in place on both Yorkshire Street and Horsedge Street for several hours.
A GMP spokesperson said on Sunday: "We are currently responding to an incident in Oldham after two cars were involved in a road traffic collision on Yorkshire Street.
"The occupants of both cars exited their vehicles and officers believed they chased each other on foot brandishing weapons. Specialist officers have been deployed to the area to conduct initial enquiries.
"We understand the concern this will cause in the surrounding areas and further afield across Oldham as we received a number of reports from members of the public to alert us to this incident.
"We have increased the number of highly visible patrols in the area and thank members of the public for their patience whilst we conduct further enquiries."
