Police seized ammunition, drugs and cash in three raids in south Manchester this morning.

Officers discovered the ammunition in the communal area of a property on Milnthorpe Way in Longsight. They then found cannabis and cash as they carried out two warrants on Dartford Close.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis. He remains in police custody.

The raids were carried out by Greater Manchester Police's Challenger COM Central team. Tactical Aid Unit officers also assisted.

Detective Sergeant Natalie McDonald, from GMPs COM Central Challenger team, said: "The warrants executed today have led to the recovery of ammunition, cash and drugs and is our way of showing that we are actively pursuing organised criminality and will continue to do so.

"While information relating to organised crime taking place in central Manchester comes from a range of sources, we also rely on the local community to be our eyes and our ears. I therefore want to take this opportunity to encourage residents and people in the area to keep reporting information which is believed to be criminal or suspicious – no matter how small you think it may be – and be assured that we will do the rest."

If you have information relating to criminal activity please contact GMP online via LiveChat, if able, or by calling 101. Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or visiting their website.
