A man suffered 'potentially serious injuries' after a horror 14 metre fall at a quarry in Bolton. Mountain rescue teams along with paramedics were called to the incident at the Wilton 1 Quarry, near Sharples, on Monday night (July 8).
The 30-year-old man, who was a climber, fell from a height of 14 metres and was believed to be unconscious when emergency crews arrived at around 9pm.
He sustained 'potentially serious injuries' in the fall, before he was carried 320 metres out of the quarry using specialist equipment and treated by paramedics.

A statement shared by the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team read: "At 21:02 on Monday evening the team was requested to assist at an incident at Wilton 1 Quarry, north of Sharples in Bolton. A 30-year-old male climber was reported to have taken a 14 metre fall, and was believed to be unconscious.
"Team members were in attendance within 14 minutes of the initial call and they met with the responding North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust crews who were dealing with a potentially seriously injured casualty.
"After assessment and initial treatment by the NWAS crews, the casualty was immobilised using specialist team equipment (a mountain rescue stretcher with wheel, coupled with a vacuum mattress and scoop stretcher, and he was carried a distance of 320m out of the quarry and downhill to the NWAS ambulance parked on the A675."
A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: “We responded to a patient following a call at 20.43 reporting a patient had fallen from height.
“An ambulance crew, advanced paramedic and solo responding paramedic attended offering immediate care. A man was taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries.”
