A man was arrested at a Warehouse Project event this weekend after reports of a woman being spiked.

The woman was said to have been left 'unable to speak clearly or stand,' after claims her friend had noticed a man put something in her drink during the event on Friday night (October 22).

She was taken to the venue's welfare tent and treated by medical staff, a spokesperson for Warehouse Project confirmed.

Police were called to nearby Travis Street at around 3.45am on Saturday morning (October 23) to reports of a woman who believed she had been spiked.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of administering a noxious substance, GMP confirmed.

He has since been released under investigation and enquiries are said to be ongoing.

In a post on Facebook, a friend of the woman praised Warehouse Project staff for their swift response in administering medical care, and for taking the matter 'very seriously.'

The woman said her friend had been left 'completely confused' and 'shaking,' before being taken to the venue's welfare tent.

"If you're going to Warehouse Project, please be aware of the people you're dancing around," she wrote.

"Watch your mates and stay safe."

Warehouse Project bosses are urging anyone who feels "unwell" or "unsafe" during one of their events to alert a member of staff immediately.

A spokesperson said: "On Friday night two girls reported to WHP (Warehouse Project) staff that one of them believed she had been spiked.

"WHP Security responded immediately, taking the girl to the on-site medics who fully assessed and monitored her condition, whilst welfare stayed with her throughout.

"The male in question was identified and subsequently arrested by GMP, who work at each and everyone WHP event.

"We continue to ask that anyone who feels unwell or unsafe to alert a member of our team, so we can provide the same level of support if and where needed."
