A massive student accommodation development is the biggest planning application submitted to councils this week.
Ardwick could soon be welcoming a redevelopment to the Victoria Point development that is already in place. Plans for six new blocks containing 876 bedrooms have been submitted to Manchester Council.
This large-scale extension would include a mix of studios and clusters.

Elsewhere in the Greater Manchester region there are a few smaller scale developments by comparison to what is on the cards for Ardwick.

Huge student living complex planned for Ardwick
An Ardwick student complex is set to be redeveloped - with nearly 900 bedrooms to come. Victoria Point, constructed in 2009 on Hathersage Road, consists of six buildings which are earmarked for either demolition or extension. The new blocks will range from four to 12 storeys tall.
There will be 876 bedrooms in total 'with a mix of studios, two bed cluster, three bed cluster and four bed cluster apartments broken down as follows', according to developers Empiric Student Property PLC.

New floodlights for tennis courts
Alkrington Tennis and Social Club in Middleton is hoping to bring light to their courts following a recent planning application.
The club, based in Uplands, wants to install eight new floodlights to their two courts. The floodlights would be seven metres high.

Temporary MRI unit planned for hospital
Oaklands Hospital in Salford will get a new temporary mobile MRI base, if plans are approved.
The new unit would be placed at the front of the hospital behind the existing disabled car parking spaces. The existing mobile MRI base at the rear of the Lancaster Road site will be retained for a mobile CT scanner on site one day a week.
Stockport
New entrance and roof terrace extension planned for golf club
Romiley Golf Club has submitted plans for a new entrance and extension.
Stockport Council have received the application for a single storey extension to form a new entrance to the existing golf club building. An extended roof terrace is also proposed for the Barlow Fold Road site.
Tameside

Trafford
Bid to make two homes out of one
Plans have been submitted to create two homes where a detached home currently stands on a ‘generous sized plot’ in the Timperley area of Altrincham.
The planning application has been tabled on behalf of Babatunde Ajibola for the property on Houldsworth Avenue.
Documents submitted to Trafford’s planning portal say the applicant seeks to develop two homes split by a newly-constructed party wall to create one three-bed house and another with two beds along with parking and ‘amenity space’.
Wigan
Plans for new food and drink deli
The owner of a first-floor two-bed flat wants to convert it into a delicatessen for the sale of food and drink, mainly on the premises.
Alan Green has submitted the proposal for the property on Church Street in the Orrell area of Wigan.
The delicatessen would occupy a total of 6,243 sq ft.
