A further five people have been arrested in connection with a series of violent knife point street robberies in the city centre that have seen 11 arrests.

Longsight and Moss Side Police took to social media to announce the arrests on Twitter on Friday, December 2, and warned people to be vigilant. The five arrested have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

They stated: #OpValiant - In the early hours of this morning, 5 were arrested for a series of violent knife point street robberies targeting students along the Oxford Road corridor. Please be mindful to keep you and your belongings safe!

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "This is actually a really great job by the City of Manchester Neighbourhood Crime Team.

"They identified 11 individuals who were involved in a series of thefts from persons across the city centre and Rusholme area. The five mentioned in this tweet were the remaining five involved. They have been bailed pending further enquires."
