A car was ploughed into a lamppost before flipping over onto its side. Fire crews, paramedics and police cordoned off Eccles Old Road in Salford shortly after 8.15pm to reports of the collision which involved one car.

Pictures and videos taken from the scene show a large emergency services presence in attendance, with fire crews working to rescue the driver.

One man was assessed at the scene by paramedics. Further details about the incident or his condition have not yet been confirmed.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly after 8.15pm on Tuesday 9 July, two fire engines from Salford Community Fire Station were called to attend a road traffic collision involving one car on Eccles Old Road, Salford.

“Crews arrived quickly and worked alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe. One male was assessed by North West Ambulance at the scene. Firefighters were in attendance for approximately 45 minutes.”
