iOS 16.4 Adds Support for PlayStation 5 DualSense Edge Wireless Controller

The iOS 16.4, iPadOS 16.4, macOS Ventura 13.3, and tvOS 16.4 updates add support for the PlayStation 5 DualSense Edge Wireless Controller, allowing it to be used with Apple devices.

Though it launched in January, Apple devices have not supported the new PlayStation controller until now, with a number of PlayStation users complaining about a lack of support just last month.

Sony introduced the DualSense Edge back in October. It is designed to be "ultra-customizable," featuring standard, high dome, and low dome caps, half dome back buttons, and lever back buttons so pro gamers can swap out their controls.

The buttons on the back are a new addition compared to the standard DualSense, as are the updated joysticks and trigger buttons. The controller also supports profiles with preset controls for different games. Priced at $199 in the United States, the controller includes a braided USB-C cable, a connector housing, and a dedicated carrying case. It is similar to the Xbox Elite 2 Wireless Controller.

Stadia as a whole is dead, why would they support a dead product ?
Stadia is dead. But they allowed users to convert their controllers to a standard Bluetooth controller, rather than just throwing the controller in the trash. So people that have converted their controllers to Bluetooth controllers will still be able to use it if Apple supports it.

How would you play PS5 games on macOS or iOS? Or is it via streaming?

(Clearly not a gamer here...)
You can use it like any game controller for iOS games that support controllers (including streaming games from your ps5 but it won't support haptic feedback afaik)

Wow, 200+ large in the UK, you can get a GameSir T4 Pro Wireless Controller for £35 on amazon with extra back mounted buttons, maybe not as sophisticated as the PS controller but still
Can you adjust the travel of the triggers with a GameSir T4 Pro?

Or replace the parts on a GameSir T4 Pro?

Or store multiple game configurations on a GameSir T4 Pro?

When you buy the Edge you're not paying for the back buttons alone. You're also paying for the ease of use and customization of each individual part on the controller, as well as easily being able to fix it in case a piece is not functioning, which with how Stick Drift is a common topic nowadays is inevitable.

I do not know how far others go, but I use the dedicated PS Remote Play app to remotely connect to and stream from my Playstation.

Then I have the ability to either use a usb-c cable, or connect to my computer wirelessly and play (stupidly high latency) games.

The application works well for side scrollers, not so well for triple A titles
