Ha ha ha ha ha. Great gift? You must be having a laugh?

Terrible product. Terrible design.

Just like Apple's rubbish lightning cables, this useless product will also fray and fail where the rubber cable joins the pick
I see people complain about this a lot, and yet it has never happened to me with any Apple cable, dating back to iPhone 3GS. Sounds like user error to me.

I own the Belkin version. Double the cable length and feels like a quality product, with a neat little kickstand in the back.

Maybe if your cable remains static in one place you get a bit more longevity.

But any one who travels and the cables are rolled up or goes through any bending, these cables just fray and fail.

Most good cables these days are braided.

Some of apples newer cables like on some Mac products are finally becoming braided too.

I bought a cheap one on Amazon and it’s… cheap. Charge much slower too.
