Earlier this year I bought a full surround sonos system (arc+sub+2x one sl). It is expensive but seamless. I'm sure some audiophile will "well comma askshully" the quality of the system but I think it is fantastic.

Probably because they are so focused on one thing, Sonos makes high-quality speakers that work great with the Apple ecosystem while retaining rich flexibility to work with pretty much everything else too. I purchased an Arc solely for music playback (yes, prob overkill) and am very impressed with the quality of sound from it. I also purchased a Move and it too produces great sound from a relatively small package.

While I am typically air playing from my own music playlists, I also enjoy the dedicated Sonos streaming radio stations, Pandora and some TuneIn stations. It's nice to have many choices and the flexibility to use many more.

No, a sound bar is NOT overkill for playing music. In fact it’s one of the worst possible ways of listening to music (or watching films for what matters). Do yourself a favour: sell it and get yourself a decent pair of speakers and a receiver. Your ears will thank you.
Thanks, I have fantastic, dedicated speakers + quality Receiver for my main listening area. Arc was for a bedroom vs. say HomePod-type speakers. I’m perfectly happy with that choice for that purpose. When I want max quality, I simply change rooms.

But I 100% agree with your core idea of chasing exceptional quality when buying speakers... and that sound bars are generally NOT that.

That shared, of all the sound bars I’ve ever heard first hand, this Arc is a dazzler.

Sonos makes great stuff. It can be a tad boomy but that’s adjustable in the EQ. I wish the Amp was included with this sale.
