I can't even imagine running a basic system on 256. I have a 512 at work and its barely enough for an adobe scratch disc with all our data files on a server.
Different people have different use cases. I'm typing this on a 2017 MBP with 256GB that I've been using comfortably for 5 years and will likely keep using for at least 2 more years if not longer. It's using up 135 GB right now doing exactly what I need it to do.

A minimum spec is exactly that - a minimum. Some people just need to browse the web. Apple has every reason to provide a minimum spec for those people.

Just can’t do 512 in 2022. Apple really needs to put that minimum config in the rearview mirror.

It's probably not for Adobe users... maybe a good home computer for a family with school kids.

Agreed. I have a 2 TB machine, but only 300 GB is in use after seven years because most of my photos and videos are stored in the cloud.

$150 off is good. Not available in all colours though. Don't know when/or if an M2 iMac will happen. Good offer if one is planning to get this model.

Yea unless they want to be generous (hahahahahahaha) and make base 512 the same price, the base is now $1549.99, which will price people out and defeat the purpose of discounting. Definitely should be higher tiers you pay for, but keep a lower priced base tier
