Verizon today announced a revamped version of its Verizon Up loyalty program with new and more frequent rewards for customers.

verizon rewards
Verizon customers will now receive a reward credit every month after paying their bill, instead of after every $300 spent, which they can use towards things like a future smartphone purchase, Starbucks coffee, Uber rides, and "Super Tickets" for exclusive experiences like concerts and sports events.

One of the "Super Ticket" experiences is a private concert with musician Shawn Mendes for 2,000 customers in New York City on May 14.

These enhancements will make Verizon Up more competitive with T-Mobile Tuesdays, which offers a variety of free rewards and offers on a weekly basis, ranging from free tacos at Taco Bell to trips to the MLB All-Star Game.

Rewards and localized offers are available through the updated My Verizon app.

Give people bill credits for loyalty, or exempt them from rate hikes, data caps, etc.

Some actually lose credits now. If you had a $500 bill you'd get 3 credits every 2 months.

Plus the rewards are less. A reward that used to be $5 is now $3.

This is actually a worse deal for most! What a joke

Oh... and to top it all off... credits now expire every 30 days instead of 90... way to go Verizon... thanks for all the "improvements"

First thing I do is opt out of all this. Last I checked on Verizon's loyalty perks, it let them sell your habits/usage to advertisers. Signs you up for a ton of stuff you don't want. Getting out of this is painful and hidden deep in Verizon's settings.

I remember seeing something on Verizon’s website that they will give you rewards if you agree to allow them to harvest analytical data, etc from you.

Is this the same thing?
EXACTLY. As a long time Verizon Wireless Customer - I'd be surprised if it wasn't.

Only ????

What people are paying for mobile service is almost as bad as cable bills.
Yup... I'm surprised more people haven't combined plans. Myself, my better half and his mom were all each paying about $120, that's $360/month. Now we pay $180 and split it, $60 each. I manage the account and just request money with Venmo each month.

I also opted out (before I left them) for the exact same reasons. It's not a net win if it means I give them more of my personal info to share with "partners."

However, I left VZW (after 15 years) for an MVNO last month and don't plan to return.
