Apple Seeds Fourth macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 Beta to Developers [Update: Public Beta Available]

Apple today seeded the fourth beta of an upcoming macOS High Sierra update to developers, less than a week after releasing the third macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 beta and a month after releasing the new High Sierra operating system to the public.

The fourth macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 beta can be downloaded from the Apple Developer Center or through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store with the proper profile installed.

macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 focuses primarily on bug fixes, performance improvements, security enhancements, and other under-the-hood changes.

It includes a fix for a serious vulnerability in the WPA2 Wi-Fi standard that protects many modern Wi-Fi networks. Using a key reinstallation attack or "KRACK," attackers can exploit weaknesses in the WPA2 protocol to decrypt network traffic to sniff out sensitive information. This attack is not possible with the patch in macOS 10.13.1.

The update also introduces a range of new Unicode 10 emoji like crazy face, pie, pretzel, t-rex, vampire, exploding head, face vomiting, shushing face, love you gesture, brain, scarf, zebra, giraffe, fortune cookie, pie, hedgehog, and more. The new emoji are also available in iOS 11.1 and watchOS 4.1.

macOS High Sierra is a major update that introduces APFS, a new more modern file system, HEIF and HEVC photo and video encoding improvements for smaller file sizes without compromising quality, Metal 2, and several new features for Safari, like autoplay blocking for videos and Intelligent Tracking Prevention to better protect user privacy.

Update: There's a new public beta of macOS High Sierra 10.3.1 available for public beta testers.

Another Emoji-lovefest by Apple. I would rather they spent their time fixing the many bugs instead!

It’s not either-or. It’s not like their emoji artists can fix bugs.

Been having a major issue that I reported directly to a senior leader of the software team. Whenever I wake up my MBP from sleep (with password authenticated access enabled), it jumps immediately to the desktop.
I have this as well on the GM of 10.13. Absolutely, utterly shocking. I have an encrypted drive and a firmware password but this makes all that pointless, might as well have no security at all.

I reported it in the bug reporter but of course that's just a black hole so I had no idea if it was seen or not.

I'm going to try this beta and see if it's fixed... but the fact that this is in the current 10.13.0 public build on millions of Macs is shameful. Apple should be raked across the coals for this one.

If you were having trouble installing the new High Sierra beta, don't bother.

It deleted all my server settings as in passwords. Cannot send ANY MAIL!
Good job Timmy!

More bug reports I guess. Of course, I'll have to manually remember and put in all the Outgoing Server settings.

UGH! :(

I posted in bold because this same thing has been happening going back to Mavericks!

How does Apple keep doing the same mistakes for that many years? It's just unbelievable.
Sorry to hear about your installation woes. In my case it's been a smooth and trouble free experience on both a 2011 MacBook Pro 17" (SSD) and a 2017 MacBook Pro 15". I had some wake from sleep issues on the 2011 MacBook Pro but they were resolved since the GM was released. Yesterday's 17B45a release is running very smoothly and error free on both laptops.

I don’t believe so... well at least it didn’t show up for me. Can someone else here please confirm?
It was a full install. It WILL NOT show up as an update. You need to reinstall the beta profile and then it will pop up in the app store as a full install.

I think I may have typed this 100 times.
