arriving
MacRumors readers Daniel (photo above) and Matthew let us know that Apple had posted a new digital sign overnight at the location of their upcoming Grand Central Station store. The sign reads "Apple Store, Grand Central. Arriving Soon."

There had been some reports suggesting an imminent launch, though construction workers have said there still is a lot to do that would push the opening into December.

Update: The New York Post reports that Apple is planning to open the new store on Friday, December 9th, but no official announcement has yet been made.

Update 2: techfootnote has posted a brief video showing the flipping animation on the new signage. Additional messages beyond the "Arriving Soon" note include "Grand Central Has Added Another Stop." and "Get Your Train(ing) Here."

I think the idea is that the sign matches the general look and style of the Metro North train departures/arrivals boards, which are on the adjoining walls of the Grand Central Station Main Hall.

This store will be right across the from my office. *Sigh* Between this and the new craft beer store that just opened in Grand Central, the dollars are going to be flying out of my wallet.

Now it is getting ridiculous. A post about a sign at an Apple Store? Seriously? I know things are slow around the holiday, but this is crazy. I hope the next post is about someone sweeping up in front of the store. I am begging you to stop with the incessant posts about Apple stores. They are worthless to the vast majority of people that come to this site. At least move them off the main page. I don't care about this store, one in San Fransisco, one in Europe, or even the one in my town. There are now hundreds of Apple stores. When there were three, a new one opening was news. Not anymore. Let it go.

Apparently it was ridiculous enough to entice you to come in, read and post. DOH !!!
