NEW YORK – Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres exited Friday night’s game due to right groin tightness.

According to the Yankees, Torres was examined by a team physician and there are presently no plans for imaging.

After the Yankees' stunning 5-3, 10-inning loss to the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium, manager Aaron Boone said Torres' condition was "similar to what he had a couple of weeks ago. It doesn't seem too significant, but he was feeling it.''

Boone said "we'll see' if Torres is available for Saturday's afternoon game against Boston.

Torres has been battling through the same issue since at least June 20, when he left a game against the Atlanta Braves. But he was able to play again the next day.

After jogging to first base on a groundout against the Mets at Citi Field on June 25, Torres also mentioned that he was experiencing right groin tightness.

Manager Aaron Boone benched Torres for the next two games, some mixture of giving him a mental and physical break, and discipline for non-hustle.

During Friday night’s fourth inning against the Red Sox, Torres beat out an infield single to shortstop but pulled up slowly after crossing first base.

Without much delay, Torres walked to the Yankees dugout and was replaced by Oswaldo Cabrera, who pinch-ran and subbed at second base.

If Torres should require a stint on the injured list, the Yankees could recall Oswald Peraza or Yorbit Vivas, infielders, from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
