Town Dock Tavern, in Rye for almost 27 years, is closing. The last day is June 23.

Owner Anthony DeLuca told The Journal News/lohud how his customers have always been like family and how "it's with great sadness" that he has to make this announcement.

"We have loved being a part of the community of Rye, and we always felt privileged to be here to help celebrate your special occasions — graduations, engagements, birthdays, sports wins and all your other milestones. We celebrated our own wedding, birthdays and graduations with you, and we are honored how the community embraced us through all the ups and downs that can happen in a generation."

Westchester:Two more restaurants are closing. Plus, news on an Italian spot's reopening

The nautical themed tavern was more than just a place to grab a burger and beer. It was about offering a local gathering spot for life's moments. "No judgements. Good food. Come as you are. Stay as long as you'd like," is the mantra on its website.

The goal, DeLuca said, was to give customers "a place to call home."

"We will miss you all," he wrote in a statement provided to lohud, "But we will always remember the good times we shared and the memories we made together at The Town Dock Tavern."

This is the 15th Westchester eatery to close since January, with many taking place this month. Rye House in Port Chester just ended its 10-year run May 19; Macelleria Italian Steakhouse closed May 17 after five years in Pelham as did Archie Grand, a two-year-old New American eatery in White Plains, taking its signage down and its social media quiet. That's on top of Salsa Bembe and Epstein's in Yonkers.

Plus there are rumblings about others that are not ready to announce their plans.

On the plus side, Piero's, which I reported on closing earlier this month, should reopen sometime in June with new management, a new menu and the same chef.

Overall, there are still more restaurant openings than closings, with many new spots opening their doors in April and May. Those include Saigon Table in Rye, Peter's Steakhouse in Eastchester, Town House Kitchen + Drinks in New Rochelle (basically a rebrand) and Jill's in Mamaroneck. As always, stay tuned to lohud.com (and the lohud_food Instagram) for up to date news.
