Florida Panthers experience flight delays ahead of Game 3 due to South Florida storms

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers are waiting to travel to Edmonton to face the Oilers in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final.

The problem is that they, along with thousands of other travelers in Florida, are experiencing flight delays due to thunderstorms and excessive flooding in the area.

According to South Florida sports radio host Andy Slater, the team has been given a new route before heading north to Edmonton but have not departed as of 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The latest data from FlightAware shows the Panthers’ flight to Edmonton took off at 4:25 p.m. and is expected to land at 9:56 p.m. ET.

In other Panthers news, captain Aleksander Barkov could return to action after returning to the ice following a vicious hit to the upper body by Oilers’ Leon Draisaitl in Game 2.

Game 3 is set to take place at Rogers Place in downtown Edmonton on Thursday.

The puck is set to drop at 8 p.m.
