Burks, who was acquired by the New York Knicks following a trade with Detroit Pistons last season, averaged 6.5 points in 13.5 minutes to end the regular season with New York, according to ESPN.com.

Burks was able to shine after OG Anunoby’s injury in the Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Indiana Pacers, where he averaged a career-high 18 points per game on 51% shooting across five games in that series.

Burks, who turns 33 on July 20, has played for seven teams since entering the NBA in 2011.

Burks scored a team-high 26 points for the Knicks in Game 7 before being eliminated by the Indiana Pacers.

During his magical playoff run, he proved he can contribute quality minutes in big-game situations.

It is unclear if the veteran will immediately start, but he should find playing time with a Heat franchise that likes to distribute minutes to all of their players under head coach Erik Spoelstra.
