DORAL, Fla. – Ahead of Donald Trump’s campaign event in Doral Tuesday, member of the Florida Democratic Party gathered down the street to project unity — and slam the former president’s plans if he were to return to office.

Leaders of the state Democratic Party held a press conference this morning, not far from Trump National Doral, the site of the planned Ralley.

Speakers focused on the threat they said will be posed by a second Trump presidency and Project 2025 — a series of right-wing policy proposals authored by Trump supporters and endorsed by several Republicans.

If implemented, Project 2025 — which some consider to be a blueprint for a second Trump term — would replace thousands of federal civil service workers with Republican loyalists, dismantle the Department of Education, and expand the power of the presidency.

This comes almost two weeks after President Joe Biden’s shaky debate performance, which caused some Democrats to call on the president to step aside.

Despite those calls, members of the Florida Democrats say they continue to support Biden and will have his back through Election Day.

“Even the day after the debate, the president got right back up on the campaign trail. He didn’t stop. As a matter of fact, the president is still moving around the country as we speak,” State Sen. Shevrin Jones, D-Miami Gardens, said. “And let’s make it clear, the former president hasn’t been seen for the last 12 days. He’s been golfing. I’m sure he’s golfing today in Doral. But the president has been working. And one more point, don’t judge the president off of 90 minutes, judge him off of four years.”

Speakers also focused on what they described as Republican attacks on reproductive freedoms and the Supreme Court’s ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, something Trump later took credit for.

They also slammed his comments saying he would rule as a “dictator” on day one.
