Arrest made after man dies in double shooting near Miramar furniture store

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Police arrested a suspect Monday after they said he fatally shot 58-year-old Devon Blake and injured another victim at a warehouse district in Miramar last month.

The shooting occurred on June 25 near Coaster Furniture, located at 10700 Enterprise Way.

Jail records show 37-year-old Darryle Durrell Everett was arrested in connection with the double shooting.

A section of the Miramar Commerce Park was placed on lockdown for several hours after the incident occurred.

K-9s were brought in to help sniff out the direction where the shooter fled, but cops were not initially able to locate the shooter.

A man who was working nearby told Local 10 News that at least one of the victims was standing in line at an outside food truck when they were hit.

According to Miramar police spokeswoman Tania Ordaz, Everett and Blake were known to each other, but the other victim, who was grazed by a bullet, was an innocent bystander.

Police have not confirmed a motive in the case.

According to investigators, Everett is facing one count each of premeditated murder and attempted murder.

As of Tuesday, he was being held without bond at the Broward Main Jail.
