LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A man stabbed a woman several times on Saturday in Lauderhill, police said.

According to Sgt. Parys Thomas, a spokesman for the Lauderhill Police Department, police officers responded to a house at about 6:15 p.m., along Northwest 12 Street, between 58 and 56 Avenues.

Lauderhill police officers found the woman injured inside the house. Lauderhill Fire Rescue personnel also responded and took the woman to the Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.

“She is currently in critical condition,” Thomas wrote in a statement released shortly after 7:30 p.m.

A man had fled after the stabbing. He later surrendered at a Lauderhill Police Department station, according to Thomas. Detectives were investigating the stabbing.
