Police identify slain victim after drive-by shooting also injures 4 men in Fort Lauderdale

Police: Man fatally shot Friday night was 33

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Police identified the man who died in a drive-by shooting that injured four others in Fort Lauderdale’s Franklin Park community as Michael McKinney on Saturday afternoon. He was 33.

According to Detective Ali Adamson, a spokeswoman for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, detectives recovered the vehicle involved in the drive-by shooting on Friday night at Northwest Eighth Street near 22 Road.

According to Adamson, Fort Lauderale Fire Rescue personnel took the five men shot to the Broward Health Medical Center after the drive-by shooting at about 7:10 p.m. McKinney was pronounced dead at the center.

“One victim is in critical condition, and the other three are currently in stable condition and expected to survive,” Adamson wrote in a statement Friday.

A male victim was injured on Saturday afternoon after a shooting in the 500 block of Northwest Fourth Avenue, according to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel took the victim to the Broward Health Medical Center.
