HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – A dispute over missing money between a Broward couple turned into a destructive altercation resulting in the arrest of a 35-year-old man, authorities confirmed Wednesday.

According to an arrest affidavit, the incident unfolded on Jan. 26 at a residence near the 400 block of E. Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

The victim informed police that she had taken $20 from her boyfriend’s wallet to purchase bacon for breakfast while he was asleep, but her boyfriend, Dorzin Miller, accused her of taking $40, the report stated.

As tensions escalated, Miller allegedly confronted the victim, accusing her of theft, police said.

After taking the victim’s cellphone and failing to find the money, he then threw it in the grass, authorities said.

The victim, fearing physical harm, left the residence with her backpack, prompting Miller to send threatening messages of destroying her clothes while demanding the return of the alleged stolen money, the affidavit stated.

The victim told police that Dorzin began to call her derogatory names and then texted her photos of shoes that he allegedly destroyed saying, “Next, it’s going to be your clothes,” according to the report.

The victim decided to call the police and while waiting for him to arrive at the home, she received a video message from Dorzin depicting the destruction of her belongings, including burnt clothing in the backyard of their home and stating, “This is just the beginning.”

Police estimated the damages to be valued between $1,000 to $1,500.

Upon police arrival, Miller fled the scene but was later apprehended, authorities said.

Jail records indicate Miller is being held without bond at the Broward Main Jail for violating pre-trial release conditions and resisting an officer without violence, with additional charges pending for property damage and criminal mischief.
