Liverpool have reportedly got straight to work to sign Turkey and Galatasaray winger Baris Yilmaz after his stunning form at Euro 2024.

The 24-year-old winger was a bright spark for the Turkish side in Germany this summer, having played every minute of each match at the European Championships. Despite being a wide player by trade, Yilmaz was mainly used as a centre-forward for his national team.

Although he did not get on the scoresheet this summer, he was a constant threat for opposition defences to worry about, and this has reportedly caught the eye of the Reds. According to Turkish media outlet Milliyet, Liverpool started their work to sign Yilmaz immediately after his country was knocked out of the European Championship by Virgil van Dijk's Netherlands.

It is claimed Liverpool will have competition from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur for the winger, but an offer of approximately £25m will be enough to seal the deal. Meanwhile, The Athletic understands the Reds are dealing with another Turkish club at the moment for one of their players.

Trabzonspor have reportedly contacted the Anfield club over the availability of defender Nat Phillips. The centre-back spent last season on loan at Celtic and Cardiff City.

It is clear the 27-year-old is keen to play more first-team football, but these opportunities are few and far between on Merseyside. Trabzonspor are believed to have submitted a £4m bid for Phillips, which was quickly rejected.

The Reds are believed to want double that for the centre-back if they are to let him go permanently this summer.
