Hello and welcome to our Liverpool live blog dedicated to keeping you up to date with all the latest transfer news.

The big claim over the weekend was that Liverpool reportedly have no plans to move on Mohamed Salah this summer - despite his contract situation. The forward is about to enter the final year of his deal at Anfield.

Elsewhere on the transfer front, Liverpool are now reportedly the favourites to sign Teun Koopmeiners as Atalanta are prepared to sell him to the Anfield club. That's according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, who are reporting that Atalanta want a fee of £50.8million, 60 million euros, for the Dutchman this summer.

Meanwhile, a report in Portugal claims that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are all ready to make their advances for Joao Neves. The Benfica has been linked with a move to the Premier League since the end of last season.

Leny Yoro update issued

Liverpool have learned the one scenario that could help them land the signature of young Lille centre-back Leny Yoro this summer.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that Real Madrid are still in control of the race to sign Yoro as the player favours a move to the Spanish capital. But it is claimed Liverpool, Manchester United and PSG are circling in case Los Blancos pull out of the move for any reason.

Romano said:

United, Liverpool and PSG - these three clubs have always been there around Leny Yoro and they keep trying to understand if there is a chance to enter the race but as of today, Sunday, Real Madrid remain in control.

Real Madrid remain favourites, Real Madrid remain in contact with Lille and Real Madrid remain the club with an agreement with the player because we know Leny Yoro wants to go to Real Madrid. Leny Yoro wants to wait for Real Madrid so all these clubs are still around to understand what happens between Real Madrid and Lille - so Liverpool United and PSG but Leny Yoro is still waiting for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid remain in communication with Lille for the Leny Yoro deal. Now it is about the amount, the fee, the package required to make the deal happen but for sure Leny Yoro remains a top priority for Real Madrid and the top priority of Leny Yoro is still Real Madrid. So the only chance to change the story is if Real Madrid pull out of the race but as of today, Sunday, Real Madrid are there, in control and negotiating. So Leny Yoro to Real Madrid is absolutely a deal on.

Adrian has confirmed he will not be renewing his contract with Liverpool and has left the club.

The Spaniard was offered a new deal by the Reds, but will be moving on after five years of service.

Why Liverpool will feel confident of bagging Gordon

The prospect of City challenging any club for a player would fill them with dread but Liverpool have every right to remain confident they can bag their man.

Gordon grew up supporting Liverpool and while he is obviously happy at St James' Park, it seems unlikely he would wish to turn down the opportunity to move back to Merseyside.

City on the other hand, while successful, would not be able to guarantee him the minutes he would crave next season and that is yet another factor which could play into the Reds' hands.

What could test Liverpool's Salah resolve?

Liverpool turned down a £150m offer from Saudi Arabia last year for Salah and it is unlikely that the Egyptian King would not be on the radar of the Saudi Pro League again this term.

If they were to bid again, it would most likely be a lesser bid than the one received last summer but if Salah is adamant to walk away in 2025, the Reds may have to do the unthinkable and accept an offer.

How much that offer would have to be is unclear, but if he is serious about leaving for free, the Reds will need to cash in now.

Liverpool receive Ederson 'green light'

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has finally been given the green light to make his first summer signing. Though the current trading period has been open for three weeks, the Reds are yet to bring any new players into their squad despite a plethora of links to potential additions.

Anthony Gordon has been one name of strong interest with Newcastle even making an extraordinary approach to Liverpool. Johan Bakayoko and Nico Williams are other attackers to be linked with moves to Anfield, though both look set to remain at PSV and Athletic Club, respectively.

With Atalanta's Ederson also clearly open to a Premier League transfer, Liverpool have now also received the green light to pursue a deal.

Slot set for tour issues

Thanks to his Liverpool players progressing well at both Euro 2024 and Copa America, Slot could be without nine first-teamers in America for the pre-season tour.

Van Dijk, Gravenberch and Gakpo are all with the Netherlands squad and will come up against England's Alexander-Arnold and Gomez on Sunday in the semi-finals of the European Championships.

Konate meanwhile is with France who play on Tuesday night against Spain. At the Copa America, Nunez is with Uruguay and will face Colombia's Diaz on Thursday morning while Mac Allister plays a day prior for Argentina against Canada.

Former Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has reportedly decided to retire from football at the age of 33.

The one-time Spain international has struggled with injuries for well over a year and played just five minutes of Liverpool's 23/24 campaign, as a late substitute in a 3-1 loss at Arsenal in February.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano Tweeted: "Thiago Alcantara has decided to retire from professional football. Former Barça, Bayern, Liverpool and Spain player has made his decision.Thiago’s passion and love for the game continues as he’s ready for new chapter in football after few months planning for it."

Why Calafiori deal is huge blow for Liverpool

The Reds have been crying out for a central defender this summer now Joel Matip has departed the club.

Currently, there is no sign of a player in the market who has the ready-made potential to partner Van Dijk immediately.

Calafiori was high on the radar because of his incredible potential and his performances for Italy this summer but it appears the Gunners have pipped them to this signing.

Thiago announces retirement

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, former Liverpool midfielder Thiago has announced his retirement from professional football.

The midfielder, who represent Bayern Munich and Barcelona in his career, left Anfield in the summer after his contract expired.

Last season saw Thiago suffer with injuries which ultimately led to the decision not to extend his deal.

Arsenal pushing to complete Calafiori deal quickly

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are not looking to hang about with their pursuit of Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori.

It is understood the Gunners are wanting to complete the deal next week with another round of talks scheduled.

He is keen on Arsenal with a contract agreed until 2029. The deal is thought to be 'close' with Liverpool firmly expected to miss out on the talented centre-back.

Liverpool receive fresh Gordon competition

According to Football Insider, Manchester City are preparing to challenge Liverpool for the signature of Anthony Gordon this summer.

City have reportedly registered their interest with Newcastle for Gordon but Liverpool remain firmly in the hunt for the winger.

Liverpool's transfer strategy this summer explained

Liverpool are taking an "opportunistic" approach to this summer's transfer window as the early weeks of the Arne Slot era begin to take shape.

The ECHO understands the bulk of Liverpool's transfer business will be completed in August as Slot tries to add new additions to his squad.

Anthony Gordon has reportedly had his 'head turned' and is realistically on the Reds' radar once he returns from Euro 2024 with England.

Liverpool discover Koopmeiners' price tag

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Liverpool will need to splash £50.8m on Koopmeiners if they are to tempt him away from Atalanta this summer.

The issue for the Reds does not lie squarely with Atalanta's valuation of Koopmeiners but also the player's desire to remain in Italy this summer.

Juventus are thought to be keen to bring the attacking midfielder to Turin and the Reds will know they shall have to offer the Dutchman a better deal in the Premier League.

Salah's future latest

Liverpool have reportedly ruled out the idea of selling Salah this summer even if he does not agree to extend his contract beyond 2025.

According to the Daily Mirror, there is little appetite from Slot's perspective to sell the winger and the hope is that he will commit his future to Liverpool beyond next year.

The ECHO has maintained a stance throughout the summer that Liverpool's plan is to keep Salah going into next season.

What Koopmeiner's agent has said about his future

Speaking to Calciomercato back in May, Koopmeiner's agent remained tight lipped about his client's future away from Atalanta.

Let's see. Teun is having a fantastic season, he has scored many beautiful and important goals, moreover he is a footballer with a constant performance, so it would be strange if other clubs didn't follow him. We know how football works. For now he is very happy to have won the Europa League with Atalanta, and he will focus on finishing Serie A well, given that Atalanta can still finish third and then on the European Championship. That's all I can say for now.

How much could Liverpool secure for Phillips

What is clear is that Phillips is keen to play regular first-team football.

What is also clear is that Anfield is unlikely to be the place where that wish will be granted.

The Reds can reportedly expect to bank £8m for Phillips should they sell him this summer but the big question is whether the defender will be open to a move so far from home or if a switch to the Premier League or Championship is better suited.

Phillips exit a 'concrete possibility'

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Nat Phillips' exit to Turkish club Trabzonspor is a concrete possibility this summer.

The Turkish club are believed to be in negotiations for Phillips and they are now waiting on the centre-back to decide whether or not he wants to move to Turkey.

Last season, Phillips' season was split between loan spells at Celtic and Cardiff City.

Liverpool 'pole position' for Koopmeiners

The Reds' hopes of adding an attacking midfielder to their team have been given a boost after reports on Saturday they are in 'pole position' to sign Koopmeiners from Atalanta.

Gazzetta dello Sport understands Atalanta had agreed a deal with Juventus to sell the midfielder but have had a change of heart and would instead prefer him to move away from Italy.

It is understood a fee of £55m will be enough to bring the Dutchman to Anfield this summer.

Former Liverpool target arrives for medical

Liverpool were reportedly in the running for Crystal Palace star Michael Olise last month but they ended up missing out on him as his heart was set on a move abroad.

In a video posted to Fabrizio Romano's X, Olise has been filmed arriving at Bayern Munich's training ground ahead of his medical.

Olise will be representing France at this month's Olympic Games and will be keen to get his transfer to the Bundesliga completed before the tournament.

Rayan Ait-Nouri 'eyed' by Liverpool

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for Wolves full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri to provide backup and competition for Andy Robertson.

Football Insider is reporting that signing a left-back is a key focus for Liverpool this summer, and Ait-Nouri has been named as a possible target.

The report goes on to say that Ait-Nouri is a client of Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute agency, which also represents Liverpool pair Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.

Rayan Ait-Nouri of Wolverhampton Wanderers has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

Joao Neves 'advances' expected

A report in Portugal claims that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are all ready to make their advances for Joao Neves.

Neves has been linked with a move to the Premier League since the end of last season, and now according O Jogo viaThe Hard Tackle, Benfica are bracing for big offers coming their way.

The report goes on to claim that Arsenal, Liverpool and United are all ready to 'attack' for the Benfica star. The midfielder is reportedly valued at €100million.

Koopmeiners 'fee' and Atalanta 'stance'

Liverpool are now reportedly the favourites to sign Teun Koopmeiners - as Atalanta are prepared to sell him to the Anfield club.

That's according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, who are reporting that Atalanta want a fee of £50.8million, 60 million euros, for the Dutchman this summer.

The report goes on to claim that the Bergamo outfit would prefer to sell the player abroad and not to a direct competitor in the Serie A, but Koopmeiners would prefer to stay in Italy, and Juventus are pushing to sign him.

This feels like one of those transfer sagas that Liverpool will continue to be named in until a final decision is made on where Koopmeiners will play his football this season.

Mohamed Salah latest

The big claim over the weekend was that Liverpool reportedly have no plans to move on Mohamed Salah this summer - despite his contract situation. T

Salah is about to enter the final year of his deal at Anfield, however, the Mirror reported on Friday that the Reds have ruled out selling their star man this summer, even if he does not sign a new contract.

The report also went on to claim that Liverpool are trying to persuade him to stay at Anfield beyond 2025.

However, former Premier League forward Clinton Morrison has claimed that the Reds could cash in on Salah if they receive a big enough offer.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live: "No Liverpool fan or the new manager coming in would want to lose Salah. His numbers playing from the right-hand side are fantastic. His numbers are ridiculous.

"Will they be able to get a player who can replicate what Salah can do? But he is getting to that age where if you get over £100m for him, I can see him leaving this summer."

Good Morning

Good morning, and welcome to the Liverpool ECHO's live news and transfers blog.

My name is Connor O'Neill, and I will be manning the fort on this miserable July morning.

Before we kick things off with the latest transfer news and gossip, below is a round-up of the ECHO's best Liverpool stories from over the past 24 hours.

Gakpo stripped of Euro 2024 goal

Cody Gakpo has been stripped of his goal for Holland but I'm not sure he'll mind too much as they booked their place in the Euro 2024 semi-final.

Both he and Virgil van Dijk will line up in the last four encounter with England in Dortmund on Wednesday.

In the UEFA live-blog, it read: "The Netherlands have turned it around! The Oranje build on their momentum, Dumfries fizzing a low ball across the area to the far post. Gakpo and Mert Müldür both look to make the vital contact on the ball, with the final touch coming off the Türkiye defender."

Cody Gakpo continues Euro 2024 hotstreak

GAKPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The Liverpool attacker has completed the turnaround for Holland with just 14 minutes of normal time remaining.

Stefan De Vrij equalised and the Reds forward continues his superb Euro 2024 campaign, he gets the wrong side of his marker and squrims the ball home.

Holland are on the verge of the last four.

Commentators are saying an own-goal, do not dare deny Cody.
