Welcome to the ECHO's live Liverpool transfer blog, as we bring you the latest Liverpool transfer news and rumours.

Liverpool are reportedly the favourites to sign Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri this summer. The Reds seemingly have a strong relationship with the player's agents and are thus the Algeria international's first choice amid interest from other clubs.

Liverpool are also among the clubs who have enquired about Crysencio Summerville's services. But Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be showing interest in the Leeds United star.

Also, Barcelona are reportedly plotting a double sale in a move to afford Liverpool-linked Nico Williams. According to reports in Spain, the La Liga giants are weighing up prospects of selling Ronald Araujo or Raphinha with the prospect of allowing both to leave the club.

AI has also predicted that Liverpool could finally land Raphinha. The Barcelona attacker moved to the Catalan club from Leeds when the Reds were linked but the technology has claimed they could finally snap up their man.

Barca 'convinced' they can sign Nico Williams

Barcelona are reportedly convinced that signing Nico Williams would be financially feasible this summer.

The Catalan club are also said to be able to afford the Spain international without selling Raphinha first. It is also acknowledged that the club's sporting director Deco likes Luis Diaz the most, but Williams is a player admired across the board in Barcelona.

Gordon update

Anthony Gordon reportedly talked to England teammates in Germany about wanting a potential Liverpool transfer to happen.

The Newcastle United player's agent is said to have been pushing hard for a deal to be done before the end of last month, according to The Telegraph. However, it is reported that the figures proposed by the Reds during conversations would have hardly addressed the North East club's PSR needs.

Liverpool's interest was described as lukewarm and ultimately an offer never materialised, with Newcastle not willing to sell on the cheap despite their desperation. They are now said to see Gordon as not for sale.

Liverpool 'bid £48m for Euro 2024 star

The Reds reportedly had a £48million for Turkey international Merih Demiral rejected by Juventus three-and-a-half years ago.

Sport Mediaset (H/T Sports Mole) reported that the Turin-based club received a firm no to the offer on transfer day in January 2021. Liverpool were looking to replace the injured Virgil van Dijk.

The club instead signed Ozan Kabak on loan from Schalke. Ben Davies also arrived from Preston North End, while the Reds recalled Rhys Williams from Swansea City.

Barca star talks up Nico Williams signing

Pedri has become the latest Barcelona player to speak about the club potentially signing Nico Williams this summer.

Liverpool is one of multiple Premier League clubs linked with the player, but Barcelona are also credited with an interest in the Spain international. But now days after Lamine Yamal talked up a transfer, Pedri has done likewise to Mundo Deportivo while at the European Championship in Germany.

We don't talk about it much. It's a decision that he and Barça have to make. There are a lot of things that have to happen. It's clear that it would be a spectacular signing. We're already seeing what he's doing at the Euros. Hopefully he can be with us, but we don't know yet because he has a contract with Athletic. Whatever happens, happens.

Hincapie update

Piero Hincapie is reportedly not a player Liverpool are pursuing this summer.

GIVEMESPORT reports that despite rumours linking the Bayer Leverkusen defender with the Reds, those have been downplayed by sources allegedly close to the club. The same is said of links to Riccardo Calafiori, who is now seemingly set to sign for Arsenal.

It is acknowledged that Liverpool were not actively in the race to sign the Italy international. The suggestion is that they are instead working on other targets.

Cult hero snubbed Spurs before Liverpool move

Andrea Dossena told the ECHO's Theo Squires in an exclusive interview how close he came to signing for Tottenham before arriving at Anfield.

In January 2008, I nearly moved to Tottenham but it didn’t happen. Then in March 2008, I knew that Liverpool were targeting me. I spoke with Rafa and sports director Eduardo Macia, who tried to explain to me what that shirt meant, the history and the quality of the championship I was going to face. In Italy there were other teams interested, but the charm of the Reds and the Premier League prevailed.

Aston Villa reportedly have a 'better chance' of signing Mainz youngster Brajan Gruda.

Ait-Nouri agent boost

Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri continues to be heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, with journalist Dave Davis insisting that the Reds are the favourites.

It's said that the Algeria international's agents have a 'good relationship' with Arne Slot's team. Speaking to Anfield Index, Davis said: "There was a story by an Algerian journalist saying that Ait-Nouri was wanted by a lot of clubs, but Liverpool is the defender’s first choice.

"Definitely legs in this one, just because he's been linked so frequently and LFC have a good relationship with his agents. So I think that there's definitely something in that."

Murillo claim

Murillo has has made a surprise admission about Liverpool amid transfer links.

During a lengthy conversation with presenter Benjamin Back in his podcast Benja Me Mucho, Murillo was asked about the transfer links with Chelsea said to have approached Forest about the possibility of doing a deal.

Reports, however, suggested that the Reds' £60million-plus valuation was deemed too high by Chelsea.

"We don’t know anything for certain," the defender said. "The window opened last month so I’m going to return to Nottingham Forest for pre-season. There might be some discussions on whether I’ll stay or not so there’s a lot of things to happen still but I’m relaxed."

Salah and Endo boost

Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo will both reportedly take part in Liverpool pre-season training instead of competing at the Olympics.

According to The Athletic, neither player will compete at the tournament and will instead be likely to participate in Liverpool's pre-season tour of America in July.

Matip offered new club

Joel Matip has been offered the chance to join Lazio on a free after he left Liverpool at the expiry of his contract on June 30.

The 32-year-old left the Reds after six years and could now secure a move to Italy. According to Il Corriere dello Sera (via LazioNews24), Lazio have been offered Matip's services with their city rivals Roma also keen on him.

Summerville enquiry

Liverpool and Chelsea have both reportedly enquired about Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville.

However, PSG are also monitoring his situation. According to De Telegraaf's Mike Verweij, the Dutch forward is the subject of interest from all three clubs.

PSG are looking to replace Kylian Mbappe and are preparing to step-up their interest in Summerville.

Target rejects new deal

Liverpool transfer target Maxence Lacroix has reportedly turned down a new contract at Wolfsburg.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the French defender could be on the move to England or Spain this summer. Lacroix has been linked with a move to both countries in the last six months.

Liverpool linked with Feyenoord midfielder

Liverpool are being linked with a move for Feyenoord star Mats Wieffer.

According to HITC, the Reds are battling with Brighton to sign the midfielder, who worked with new Liverpool head coach Arne Slot last season.

The report claims that Liverpool are behind the Seagulls in the race to sign the 24-year-old this summer, with Aston Villa, Brentford and Fulham also said to be in the running.

Arne Slot's dream Liverpool line-up after Anthony Gordon transfer

Anthony Gordon continues to be credited as the player who could be Liverpool's first signing of the summer.

Gordon has emerged as a potential target for Liverpool, with the former Everton star's future at Newcastle United increasingly uncertain.

The St James' Park club were forced to sell Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh in order to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), and there are still question marks over whether Gordon may also need to leave for similar reasons.

As a result, those Gordon links haven't gone away - even with Newcastle's June 30 PSR deadline having passed this week. A new wide forward has been suggested in the Anfield rumour mill but it remains to be seen if any players will be signed and, if so, if Gordon is the preferred target.

Cody Gakpo admits Liverpool struggles

Cody Gakpo has thanked the players and staff at Liverpool for helping him get back to his best as he continues to thrive for the Netherlands at Euro 2024.

Gakpo scored in his country's 3-0 win over Romania on Tuesday night to help reach the quarter-final of the tournament.

"Those moments are normal for a player, it's not always going very well and going the way you like,” Gakpo admitted at a press conference when acknowledging his previous struggles.

"Sometimes you have a spell [where] things don't go your way but, to be honest, I have a great team at Liverpool, great people that always are there for me and for everybody when you have those moments. They kept believing in me, kept helping me with everything.

"I think the last, I don't know how many, games of the season at the club I played also good games. I just took that with me and kept working very hard. I'm very happy that I can be of value for the team."

Liverpool dealt Riccardo Calafiori transfer blow

Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their reported quest to sign Riccardo Calafiori.

The Reds have been heavily linked with the Bologna defender, but Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in his signature.

It has been stated the agreement in principle will be worth €3.5m (£3m) for Calafiori's annual salary.

Liverpool have just saved £18.7m

This week has seen the transfer window burst into life as the change of month signalled the end of contracts for players around the Premier League and Europe, writes Amie Wilson.

For Liverpool that sees three players move on from the club. It was announced in the summer that Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip would leave the club at the end of their contracts.

Despite being offered a new deal at Anfield, goalkeeper Adrian also looks set to leave the club as he searches for more game time away from the club. The departure of the players does however mean a cash boost for Liverpool with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSRs) in mind.

Liverpool are continuing to be linked with a move for Adrien Rabiot following his exit from Juventus.

The midfielder's contract with the Serie A club expired on Sunday, and he is now a free agent.

According to Calciomercato, Liverpool have "made moves" to try and sign the France international this summer on a free transfer.

However, the Reds appear to have competition from Newcastle for Rabiot's signature, with Manchester United being heavily linked in the past.

Jurgen Klopp has sent a message to former Liverpool loanee Nuri Sahin as he follows in his managerial footsteps.

After Edin Terzic's departure earlier this summer, Borussia Dortmund have appointed Sahin as the club's new manager.

Klopp took to Instagram to send a message to Sahin, who he coached during his time as Dortmund boss.

"Exactly 16 years ago was my first day at [Borussia Dortmund] and today you [Sahin] take the helm - wishing you much success my friend, it will be great," wrote Klopp on Instagram.

Liverpool linked Adrien Rabiot

Liverpool have reportedly placed themselves strongly in the race to sign free agent Adrien Rabiot.

Reports suggest that Liverpool have made an enquiry for his services after his contract with Juventus expired.

TEAMtalk suggests that his mother and agent is 'locked in talks' with potential suitors while he is away at the Euro 2024 with France.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are mentioned as being among the list of potential suitors as Arne Slot is keen to sign a new midfielder following the departure of Thiago Alcantara.

Former Liverpool loanee Arthur Melo looks set to venture on a new path as news emerged about his future at Juventus.

Arthur's agent, Federico Pastorello, has provided an update on the former Liverpool midfielder's future. Pastorello has stated that Arthur is not part of Juventus' future as the summer transfer window rolls on.

“We are talking to several clubs about Arthur because he will leave Juventus, they are not counting on him," Pastorello is quoted telling Rai.

Anthony Gordon Liverpool transfer hint

Anthony Gordon looks up to Mohamed Salah when it comes to his planning and mindset for matches.

Gordon has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent days. It was earlier this year that the Newcastle star spoke of his admiration for Salah.

“My confidence comes from my preparation," Gordon told The Overlap podcast earlier this year. "I don't know where it comes from, I wouldn't say anyone around me is anything like that.

“I just love learning stuff, and throughout my years growing up, I've taken a liking to learning about psychology. There may be people who do the same thing as me, there may be loads who just haven't spoken about it.

"Some footballers like to think less, just turn up and play and trust their instincts. I just love the mindset of getting myself in that place before I'm already there.

“I saw Mo Salah talk about it - that's where I took even more interest, because I see him as an absolute machine and a winner. People like that, you're not going to go too far wrong following what they do.”

Liverpool and Arne Slot can expose transfer truth after £54m Chelsea statement

The start of July is upon us meaning the start of a new financial year is underway. That means clubs are set to press ahead with their transfer business due to the different regulations within the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR).

Before the end of June, a number of top-flight clubs moved rapidly, almost working together, to sell players to balance the books before the turn of the financial year. Aston Villa, Chelsea, Newcastle, Everton and Brighton were all involved in surprising dealings for players that led to many believing they were capitalising on PSR loopholes.

Liverpool, however, did not. In fact, the Reds have gone about their business in the transfer window under the radar. Arne Slot's appointment as the new head coach at Anfield has been partnered by a new-look team behind the transfer recruitment on Merseyside.
