Coronation Street and Emmerdale fans have questioned an ITV decision after soap bosses made a joint announcement on Monday.

The long-running serial drams will undergo a huge schedule shakeup this week, with less Corrie than usual. As soap fans will know, Emmerdale usually airs weekdays at 7.30pm.

Coronation Street is then broadcast on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm, with each episode lasting an hour. But this week will see the soaps moved about considerably.

Emmerdale will air for an hour tonight, Monday, from 7-8pm, with Corrie in its usual slot. Then Emmerdale will be broadcast as standard for half an hour at 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 9.

Corrie will follow on Tuesday from 8-9pm, before neither soap airs on Wednesday. This is due to ITV instead providing live coverage as England takes on the Netherlands in the Euro 2024 semi final.

People can follow all the action from 6.30pm, ahead of the 8pm kick-off. The match will also air live on BBC One.

There'll then be an hour instalment of Emmerdale on Thursday, July 11, at 7.30-8.30pm, and a half-hour episode at 7pm on Friday, July 12. Corrie has been bumped from Friday's listings to make way for coverage of the England vs Republic of Ireland UEFA 2025 Women's qualifier.

In a joint social media post earlier today, ITV soap bosses made fans aware of the schedule changes. The post was captioned: "Wondering where to find the Soaps this week? We’ve got you covered!"

A number of fans have taken to the comments section to air their disappointment, as Max said: "Why is Corrie only on two times this week? Why can't you use your other channels?" Emma said: "Short changed on Corrie" and Tasha said: "Stop messing around with our soap schedules".

ITV has been approached for comment.
