Late night trains will run from Manchester to Liverpool this week.

TransPennine Express will operate two extra services this week to allow people to return to Liverpool after concerts at Manchester's Co-op Live arena. The services will run directly from Manchester Piccadilly to Liverpool Lime Street.

The first was scheduled to depart at 1.02am on Wednesday after Fleetwood Mac legend Stevie Nicks was due to perform on Tuesday (July 9). She has however cancelled this concert due to injury. However TransPennine Express has said the service will still run for people who may have made alternative plans in Manchester that evening. The second will depart at the same time on Thursday after Kings of Leon play at the arena on Wednesday (July 10).

Kathryn O’Brien, customer experience and transformation director at TransPennine Express, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer these extra services to get fans home after enjoying the concert.

“Services may be busy, so we’re asking our customers to plan their journey carefully and check before they travel.”
