Spring is such a joyful time of year. It’s not just the chirping birds and blooming buds either, there’s a real feeling of renewal and fresh beginnings in the air. Anything seems possible.

If you’re like us, you want to make the most of the season. Here are three top ways to welcome spring and take full advantage of the spirit of rejuvenation.

1. Eat clean

Everyone wants to eat healthier these days. It’s simple if you choose whole foods versus processed and refined. Think about eating the way your great-great-grandma did: keep it real and find ingredients from the produce section rather than the snack pack aisle. Keep it simple, too. Don’t go overboard on sauces, oils, and butter; instead, let the good food’s natural flavors be the star of the show.

2. Spring-clean

Clear out the clutter, dust off the cobwebs, open the windows, and make room for the new—or just create some breathing space. Nothing resets the attitude like a deep clean and re-org. While you’re at it, toss out your tired, outdated recipes and find new favorites that are delicious, easy to make, and nutritional.  And don’t forget to clean the fridge removing any expired products. Sometimes, it’s crazy how long we keep condiments. Then, get outside and enjoy the sunshine to celebrate your hard work!

3. Taste spring

Eating seasonally is always better: the foods are fresh and at the peak of their ripeness and flavor intensity. Little Potatoes are always in season, so pair them with just-harvested sweet asparagus, crunchy kale and bitter greens, earthy beets, tangy rhubarb, and tender spring lamb. Check your area farmers’ market for local seasonal favorites and recipes on how to best prepare them.

Happy spring!
