  • Six out of nine hotel operations are now up and running in Yellowstone — just three more to go over the next few weeks! Pictured here is the 2024 Lake Maintenance Team, who worked tirelessly to get the historic Lake Hotel ready for another summer of welcoming guests. They're now gearing up for the opening of Lake Lodge on June 10! Shout out to boiler technician Tom Denny for capturing this moment! #yellowstonejobs #liveworkexplore #xanterralife #ynplodges

  • We shared another successful spring cleaning event on the highway leading North from Yellowstone. Gathering to honor Earth Day as we prepare for the summer season within Yellowstone has become a beloved tradition among us. Beneath the expansive blue skies, it felt as though Mother Nature herself was smiling upon our efforts, affirming our commitment to preserving the beauty of our natural surroundings and protecting the park for future generations. Thanks to the 25 members of the Xanterra family who didn't let the brisk morning temps keep them from chipping in. #xanterralife #yellowstonejobs #liveworkexplore #EarthDay #stewardship #yellowstonenationalpark

  • A big cheers to Kristi Cottam, Megan Duffy, John Cronk, and Ellen Foster from the Food and Beverage crew! They recently earned their Level One Sommelier certifications after putting in some serious study time, delving into everything from old and new world wines, soil nuances, and mastering the art of tasting. Now armed with a breadth of wine knowledge and refined skills, they're excited to develop park menus and create specials that complement our wine selection. Congratulations team!

  • Our dedicated team members have worked hard to close and button up Yellowstone's winter lodges this week, and most are making their way out of the park. A small handful remain to keep the Geyser Grill and retail shop open at Old Faithful. It's a bittersweet ending with lots of fresh snow recently falling, but eager beavers are also ready to travel and explore beyond Yellowstone's borders. It was fantastic to have Mammoth finally open again - thanks to everyone for a wonderful winter season!

  • Today is officially #Rakday and the close of Random Acts of Kindness Week! In the spirit of kindness, we'd like to introduce Yellowstone #raktivist Ted Long of the Mammoth Hotel Gift Shop! He recently saved the day, buying a bottle of canned water (#sustainability) for a fellow co-worker who desperately needed some extra help clearing her throat. These random acts of kindness are part of his DNA, always welcoming guests, going the extra mile to serve visitors and fellow employees, and helping someone in need. Thanks, Ted, for spreading good cheer and for all you do! #RandomActsOfKindness #KindnessMatters #SpreadKindness #raktivist #yellowstonejobs #xanterralife

  • Today marks the first day of Random Acts of Kindness Week! While Yellowstone is most known for its wildlife and thermal geology, the park's employee community generates its own brand of beauty. Welcoming and inclusive, there is no shortage of kindness floating around. Meet "raktivists," Pancho Martinez, pictured below as he generously shares his stash of fortune cookies and the Mammoth Housing Team who created an "inspiration board" that filled with notes of positivity within hours! #yellowstonejobs #xanterralife #liveworkexplore #rakweek #kindness #raktivists.

  • In honor of Veteran's Day, we are celebrating Dave Maravetz, who is not only a 24-year Veteran of Yellowstone but a four-year Veteran of the United States Navy. Since variety is the spice of life, Dave took to trying out various positions in the park and excelled in all (Reservations, Food and Beverage Management, Risk management, and finally, Engineering). After reaching the pinnacle of his park career, Dave has made the decision to retire and spend more time with family. During his Yellowstone journey, Dave also met Kathy, a wonderful person who ultimately became his wife. Kathy is also a tenured park employee with 33 years under her belt. She has contributed her skills to various roles in the park, most recently in the general accounting office. And they are heading out together! We will certainly miss their big smiles and laid-back nature and wish them both the very best as they embark on their next adventure. Thanks to both Dave and Kathy for their years of service to Yellowstone National Park. Happy Veterans Day, and thanks to all who have served our country!!

  • Minimizing our impact on the environment is what we strive to do here in Yellowstone. These efforts range in scale from company-wide sustainability goals to changing out light bulbs. However, no effort is more important than the everyday role our staff play in reducing, reusing, and recycling. Yellowstone staff at the Gardiner Laundry help keep millions of pounds of laundry clean and ready for our guests throughout the park. They also provide uniforms for the 3k+ staff that work in the park. You might wonder what happens to the laundry and uniforms when they get too worn for guests and employees. Jeanne, a retired horticulture professor who is also very handy with a needle and thread, has helped provide innovative solutions! It is Jeanne's first season working in Yellowstone along with her husband. When she isn’t manning the uniform desk, she has been working to keep much of Yellowstone’s worn laundry in service through creative repurposing: bed sheets that can no longer be used get a second life as crib sheets, older shower curtains are cut up and made into functional bags for staff, and pillows are upcycled and fitted with repurposed uniforms. Jeanne has even crafted “mug rugs” from uniform patches! Our staff’s ingenuity doesn’t end there: old uniforms are cleaned and sent to other Xanterra properties or donated, worn mattress pads are transformed into doggie beds for local animal shelters, and everything else gets recycled (this year, we recycled over 40,000 pounds of linen and terry). Thank you, Jeanne, for going above and beyond to be sustainable during your time here in Yellowstone! Your creative upcycling, excellent sewing skills, and hiking prowess will be missed (275 miles so far on the trail!). #yellowstonejobs #xanterralife #gogreen #sustainability

  • Meet Michael Millette, the new Meetings and Events Sales Manager based out of Mammoth Hot Springs. Michael, having lived all over the country (NY, CA, NJ, CA, TX, and now MT), would say he mainly hails from California (where he has spent the most of his years). After the renovation of Mammoth Hotel and significant conference space enhancements, the plan had been to boost interest in events at this idyllic location (weddings, business conferences, etc.). With a pandemic and flood in the rearview mirror, Michael is here and ready to work on that vision. Armed with a passion for pleasing and bringing smiles to people's faces, we have no doubt that Michael is the man for the job. "To me, helping to give groups of people the opportunity to experience the wonders of Yellowstone is a dream come true. I used to sell technology and software. Now I get to sell magical moments and memories and I couldn’t be more thrilled!" Michael first visited Yellowstone in 2009 and absolutely fell in love. Between 2009 and 2021, he only missed one year of not visiting the park (the year his daughter, Montana, was born). "Camping, exploring, fishing, wildlife spotting, relaxing by a stream…to me, this is paradise, and I always dreamed of working in Yellowstone." His dream came true when he saw the job posting on Xanterra’s website. His interests include wildlife photography, fly fishing, ornithology, and snowboarding. He's also a skilled drummer (semi-pro for 17 years!), a huge music fan of all genres, and an advanced open-water SCUBA diver. We are already looking forward to his musical performance in the 2024 Park Wide Talent Show. 😄 Welcome Michael! #WhatWeDoWednesdays #yellowstonejobs #xanterralife #ycerp
