Welcome to the UvA/AUAS Library. Just like the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), the Library is spread across various locations in Amsterdam. Students and employees of both universities use all our library services at these 13 inspiring and hospitable locations. The UvA/AUAS Library is one of the largest libraries in the Netherlands. You have a good chance of finding the research information and data that is relevant for you here. Besides, the Library is the place to study, collaborate, expand your network, make discoveries and develop your knowledge and skills.
You can choose from more than 4,500 modern study spaces. Every month there is a full programme of workshops and events. Researchers can make use of the Library's services, information, tools and systems that enable them to perform, publish and valorise their research. And anyone who needs personal advice is welcome to check in to our Library either online or offline and get in contact with the Library’s subject librarian.
On top of that, the Allard Pierson is part of the University Library. The Allard Pierson is a museum and manages UvA’s heritage collections. Internationally renowned collections in the areas of archaeology, the history of books, Jewish culture, church history, cartography, literature, graphic design and zoology make this one of the leading heritage collections in Europe.
And did you know that we are renovating a former hospital and combining this with a new wing to form a single building for the library? The new University Library location will open in 2024 and will become one of the main attractions of the campus.
