About us
One of Trent’s original colleges and the only college located in downtown Peterborough, Traill is a community of forward-thinking and creative “Traillblazers.” Named after nineteenth-century author and naturalist Catharine Parr Traill, our college is a student oasis situated five minutes away from the centre of Peterborough. The College feels like a small university within the larger university and that’s the point. Here, students may lose themselves in their books, but they will never be lost in the crowd. A downtown hub, Traill is a place where students of all years of study congregate together to create an environment where diversity and blending of ideas thrive. Don’t miss Bridget Larocque, 44th Ashley Fellow, this evening at Traill College giving a North at Trent lecture: “A Northern Perspective on Decolonization and Indigenization – Retelling Narratives.” Bagnani Hall, 7:30 PM. Followed by discussion and refreshments. Larocque is a policy writer, researcher, and consultant who brings a distinctive worldview from her upbringing in the Arctic, Métis lifeways, lived experiences alongside First Nations and Inuit peoples and participation in Western education systems. The Ashley Fellow is a program run by the Colleges at Trent University. Named after the late Professor C.A. Ashley, the fellowship encourages people with rich life experiences to engage in the scholarly life of Trent’s colleges. This year, the Ashley Fellow is based at Traill College.
