Process Development for Fuels, Chemicals and Materials through Sustainable Engineering
About us
The Chemical Engineering Department at SwRI has a history of developing, fabricating, and operating lab to pilot-scale systems utilizing technical expertise from chemical engineering, process chemistry, materials engineering and mechanical engineering. The larger projects are performed at the demonstration scale in the area of decarbonizing industry in SwRI’s 5-acre Process Development Unit. SwRI has prior experience in fuels, chemicals and materials process optimizations from conventional and renewable feedstock processes that promote the U.S. path to net-zero emissions by 2050. Overall, the department enables sustainable development, improvement and intensification of any chemical process towards efficient validation and commercialization.
