Meet Dawn Gladwill, a Practice Support Specialist for Providence Maternal Fetal Medicine, who has worked at #Providence for just over two years. When asked what she loves about her job, she replied, "I feel like I learn something new every day. I’m positioned in a 'fishbowl' where I see all the waiting room and the back-office hustle to prepare for patients, so I’m right in the middle of everything. "I feel especially lucky to work in a place that loves to teach and shows incredible compassion to patients. I love that I am part of the amazing team in MFM," she added. When asked about living in Alaska she said, "My favorite thing about living in Alaska is the summers. I love the midnight sun, fireweed flowers, and how vibrant the colors are in the summer. I will never get tired of seeing the turquoise blue glacier water! My husband and I have a blended family and combined we have 14 kids. Getting outside to play is one of our favorite activities, and we also get to see all the beautiful things in Alaska." Dawn was just accepted to the 1-year accelerated nursing program through University of Providence. She says, "Having this wonderful experience with the MFM team is what motivated me to apply. I’m so excited to keep working with Providence and see what new adventures await!" #ThankYou Dawn for the amazing work you do for our patients and families. Eric Conroy thought he had hit rock bottom before, but when he woke up one morning in excruciating pain caused by a blood #infection, he knew this was as low as it could get. “I just prayed. I said, ‘God, just please let me die.’ I couldn’t take it anymore; I just surrendered.” That was more than two years ago, and today Conroy is a different person – thanks to a series of events that brought him to the Guest House in downtown #Anchorage, a housing facility that once served as a hotel for tourists. The #GuestHouse, purchased in part with $500,000 in community investment funding from Providence Alaska, can accommodate up to 126 people experiencing #homelessness to help them reset their life trajectory and find a more productive future. The Guest House is part of the Alaska #Community Foundation Mass Care Exit Strategy Implementation Plan. In a February 2022 report, the Anchorage #Coalition to End Homelessness said its goal is to “make homelessness in Anchorage rare, brief and one time.” #CommunityBenefit

In 2023, Providence invested $65 million in total benefit to the communities we serve, including $19 million in free and discounted care. Our support includes projects like: ☑️ Brother Francis Shelter Medical Respite, which provided more than 2,900 nights of healing to 135 clients in 2023. ☑️ Kodiak Island’s Therapeutic Riding and Equine Assisted Therapy Program, which helps children build confidence and improve socially and emotionally via connection with horses. None of this work is possible without the opportunity to collaborate with people who share our vision. We are blessed and honored to live and work in communities where organizations exist that are dedicated to improving the lives of Alaskans. Thank you for continuing to trust us with your care and your loved ones’ care. Ella Goss, MSN, RN Chief Executive, Providence Alaska
